Chewbacca Is Back For ‘The Clone Wars’
This week, it’s been announced that everyone’s favorite Wookiee, Chewbacca, is returning to the Star Wars universe, with an appearance on the season finale episodes for The Clone Wars. The adventure sees Chewie crossing paths with Ahsoka Tano, and features scenes of the big Wookiee taking on some evil Trandoshan warriors.
Here’s a trailer clip:
Looks like a lot of fun. Apparently Dave Filoni brought Peter Mayhew in for some consulting on bringing the animated Chewbacca to life. The New York Times elaborates:
To prepare for these episodes, titled “Padawan Lost” and “Wookiee Hunt,” the “Clone Wars” supervising director Dave Filoni and his team of animators and artists delved into the Lucasfilm archives for original Chewbacca reference materials and costumes, and invited Mr. Mayhew to their studios in Marin County, north of San Francisco, to advise them on the process of bringing Chewie to digital life
The Season Finale for The Clone Wars is scheduled for April 1.
